Andrei Sorin Ovezea (born 1991), known professionally as VIIIAIN (pronounced “Villain”), is a Romanian music producer, artist, and DJ. Active since 2012, he is recognized for blending genres such as Deep Dubstep, Trap, UK Garage, Grime, Pop, and Brazilian funk, with a career that spans collaborations with international and Romanian artists, major festival appearances, and music production for television, advertising, and film.
VIIIAIN began his musical journey as a drummer in various rock, metal, and pop bands before founding his electronic project,The Villain, in 2012. Performing under a masked persona until 2021, he established a mysterious identity while steadily building his discography. Between 2012 and 2020, he released several projects, including four albums, two EPs, and nineteen singles, some of which gained recognition on platforms such as Spinnin’ Records.
In 2017, VIIIAIN co-wrote “Round & Round” for Romanian pop star Alexandra Stan, included on her album MAMI. That same year, he joined DeMoga Music, one of Romania’s most influential music production companies, founded by Marius Moga. During his time there, he contributed to a wide range of projects: producing music for the TV show Masked Singer Romania; writing and producing for talent show contestants on The Voice of Romania, X-Factor, Hit Play, and Superstar Romania; and producing songs for commercial campaigns by brands such as Coca-Cola and Samsung. He was also part of the DeMoga Music x UNTOLD Bus Sessions, collaborating on tour-bus productions with international and Romanian acts including Lost Frequencies, Korolova, Nusha, Dirtyphonics, Calum Scott, Șatra B.E.N.Z., Fehrplay, Chico Rose, VAMA, Carla’s Dreams, Irina Rimes, and Sam Feldt. VIIIAIN also participated in songwriting camps for major artists such as Post Malone, The Kid Laroi, and DJ Snake.
In 2022, while still signed to DeMoga Music, he launched a side project called Banger District, releasing three singles: To The Edge, Don’t Worry About Me (featuring Ana Stănciulescu), and Backroom.
After leaving DeMoga Music, VIIIAIN began developing demos that would later evolve into his comeback albums. In 2023, he produced music for a KFC brand campaign. On December 13, 2023, he performed his first VIIIAIN live show in several years, alongside Truthday, Cristiana Dicianu, Addi, Iconaru, and Denada. Two days later, he released “Eat It Up!”, featuring long-time collaborator RIVER HOOKS (USA), as the lead single from his upcoming album Back To The Shadows.
In February 2024, VIIIAIN released Back To The Shadows, quickly followed one week later by The Streets We Made. In March, he performed at Massif Festival, sharing the lineup with Wilkinson, Chase & Status, Netsky, GORDO, Claptone, and others. In August 2024, he played for the first time at UNTOLD Festival, one of Europe’s largest electronic music festivals, sharing stages with global acts including Martin Garrix, Alok, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Armin van Buuren. That same summer, his single “Life Is A Game” (from The Streets We Made) was remixed and showcased by Gorgon City during their DJ Mag HQ set. He later released three more singles in 2024: Bonkers, Innit?, Kiss (Like This), and Novinha. To close the year, he released Anthology, a compilation of his most notable tracks, including a new single, “This Is Me”.
At the beginning of 2025, VIIIAIN expanded into film scoring, working as a music producer for the Romanian comedy Mentorii – The Movie, directed by Adrian Tapciuc. Released February 28, 2025, the film featured actors such as Cătălin Bordea, Dorian Popa, Loredana Groza, and Adrian Titieni, becoming a Romanian box-office hit and topping cinema charts for three consecutive weekends. VIIIAIN contributed to the Mentorii Original Soundtrack – EP, released via DeMoga Music, which included tracks such as Flex, Jazz In The Club, and Viral.
In early 2025, he marked the one-year anniversary of his comeback albums by releasing Remixing The Shadows, a remix EP featuring contributions from Mandrei, Sambo, and Truthday & Cristiana Dicianu. He was confirmed for his second appearance at UNTOLD Festival, celebrating its 10th anniversary edition, where he performed alongside Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Black Coffee, Lost Frequencies, and Alok.
In August 2025, VIIIAIN announced two new releases: a collaboration with rising Romanian Tech House DJ/producer MANDREI, titled “Tunava”, scheduled for release September 19, 2025; and his upcoming single “Airplane Mode”, featuring Acapella (a talented independent singer-songwriter and member of the boyband AM – After Midnight), set for release on 24 September 2025. The latter precede his forthcoming album Shuffle, scheduled for release October 22, 2025.
